How It Works

How Portal32 Works For You

Currently your inmates pre-paid account or collect calling company charges expensive long distance rates when the inmate is located 5 miles or more from your area code. The facilities Mandatory Phone Service Provider gets charged city tariffs as the call goes through phone lines and crosses through cities. This is not good for families that have an inmate that calls frequently and requires constant recharging on your current pre-paid account. Below you will see a breakdown on how your current pre-paid account works.

Once integrated with our service, your once long distance call will now be considered a local call by the inmates current pre-paid account. We assign you a digital local telephone number(Portal32 Line), that line then calls you to your cell, home or office number directly through the Internet. By doing this, your current pre-paid account minutes burn out slower requiring less recharging or deposits. If you live very close to the facility, we do not suggest you use our service. The savings may not be great. but may show a difference. Below you can see how our service works together with the inmates current pre-paid account.

What To Do After Receiving A Portal32 Line Number

If you do not have a current account with the inmates facility, you will need to have the inmate dial your new Portal32 Line number directly from the facility. The facilities automated service will then give you the opportunity to open an account and receive calls to your Portal32 Line. Be sure the inmates knows to remain on the line while you are doing this. After you have setup the facilities account, you will be reconnected with the inmate and they can call you directly in the future. Our service will automatically connect the Portal32 Line number to your cell, home or office.

If you already have an account with the facility, contact the Facilities Mandatory Phone Service Provider(Pre-Paid Account Provider). Ask them to add the new Portal32 Line number instead of the number to your cell, home or office. Tell them it is your home number. Do not mention that it is forwarding or a virtual number. If you do, they may require a phone bill and may reject the new number. Our service will automatically connect the Portal32 Line number to your cell, home or office.
